Hi @all!
We had the opportunity to visit the Austrian 3D-Printing Forum at Tech Gate Vienna. The event featured a series of talks and discussions focused on current developments in additive manufacturing.

We listened to several presentations and conversed with knowledgeable people from the field. It was interesting to learn about the different use cases and challenges that different industries face.
Here are some expressions of our members:
In my opinion, the event featured a good mix of different talks, ranging from more technical discussions to broader economic perspectives. What particularly captured my interest were the presented applications in PCB and electronic component manufacturing. Additionally, I have not expected to come across an use-case of CT scan technology outside of medical applications – quality testing in 3D printed objects! All in all, it was an interesting experience, the view from the 19th floor was also quite “beeinDRUCKend” 😉

The event seemed to be a bit more focused on the economic strategy for bigger 3D-printing firms. So for some of the business-related topics, I simply did not fall into the target audience. However, 3–4 talks gave some really interesting technical insights, e.g. the 3D-printing of PCBs, the usage of generative design techniques in creating bike seats “optimized for the own bun,” and some good takes on the construction and design of a partly 3D-printed bike frame. Although I really enjoyed the event overall, one thing kind of ruined it for me: at the get-together after all the talks, the organizers came to us and said, “Don’t get anything to eat yet, as the ‘real’ guests should get something first.” It really gave the impression that we were not wanted there. I would have preferred to simply not go at all rather than feel like an “inconvenience.” Sadly, this interaction spoiled my experience a bit, even though I had quite good conversations with other attendees.

We’d like to thank SUCCUS for providing us with the tickets. Also, credit where it’s due: the espresso at the venue was excellent. Whoever chose those coffee beans – great call.
Thanks for the beans!
