DIY Infloor Heeting System

In my new flat the previous owner renovated the place and installed infloor heating controlled by the Vaillant eRELAX System. The main benefit of it was the portable thermostat unit used to control the whole system. It had no individual zone control. In a time of exploding gas-prices this felt unnecessarily wasteful. Adding to that the App was very buggy and the HomeAssistant integration left a lot to be desired.

So I looked around for an alternative control system. In my previous place I used Tado. In my experience it was a bit on the expensive side but reliable with a good enough app and local HomeAssistant integration. Sadly, they donĀ“t support infloor heating systems but I figured that I could try to make it work regardless. Since I had a few parts laying around from my previous install I tried to fit the radiator thermostat unit on the distribution thingy and it worked. The only problem was that the valves where too close together for all of the radiator thermostats to fit side by side. However I was able to 3D-Print adapters to make it work:

In my rooms I put Wireless Smart Thermostats for zone control and I was able to connect the Wireless Receiver to my gas boiler. That enables the Tado System to control the gas boiler according to the heating-needs. Sadly I was not able to get the Hot-Water control to work over the Tado System but it is not an important requirement for me.

Now I am able to control the heating of my rooms individually via the Tado App or via HomeAssistant which makes me very happy.
