Introduction

The Rock-Boards are interesting alternatives to the Raspberry PI family.

RockPi4C

The RockPi4 is a Single Board Computer that bears similarities to the Raspberry Pi family in terms of its form-factor and port layout. It even shares the acronym “RPI.” However, it’s important to note that while there are resemblances, direct interchangeability between the two is not feasible. Notably, the RockPi4 features different special connectors, such as the camera connector, which sets it apart from the Raspberry Pi. Additionally, the placement of the CPU on the RockPi4 is not the same as the Raspberry Pi, further distinguishing the two systems. Therefore, while they may share certain characteristics, they are distinct devices that cater to different design considerations and use cases.

The RockPi4C+ only comes with 4GB od LPDDR4 RAM, whereas the RasPi4 goes up to 8GB.

The integrated Mali T860MP4 GPU supports:

  • OpenGL ES1.1, ES2.0, ES3.0, ES3.1 and ES3.2
  • OpenCL 1.1 and 1.2
  • Vulkan 1.0
  • DirectX 11.1

Todo

The RockPi4C’s software experience and ease of use in comparison to the high standards set by the Raspberry Pi is yet to be determined. Thorough testing with our RockPi-4C is underway, and we eagerly anticipate the results to assess its performance and user-friendliness. Stay tuned for our findings!
