Hello @all!
Here just a really quick update on our visit to the TEDxTUWien visit.
I am sure you’ve seen TED talks on YouTube or elsewhere before. Well, now there was a TEDx event in our city and of course, we had to attend. TEDx in comparison to TED is an independently organized event where they obtain the license from TED to use some equipment and so on, if I understand correctly. The beautiful location, TU Vienna’s Kuppelsaal, in combination with amazing talks and interesting exhibitions resulted in a successful and fun day.
At first, I was expecting that there were only the talks, but a whole floor was filled with booth stands from different organizations, like TU Racing Team, Wiener Stadtwerke and many more, so the time between the talks was also really enjoyable.
Concerning the content itself, the theme was “UP OR OUT? – Society at the Crossroads”, which to be honest did not tell me too much about the actual topics. The talks were amazing, but the ones that especially stood out to me is the one from Ivona Brandić, where she introduced the idea of a digital twin of the human body. A concept I would have never thought about, but makes enormous sense for pre-testing certain medication or other treatments. The other talk branded into memory was the one from Ms. Clit/Doris, a comedian dressed as vulva. Pretty random but funny, while still addressing important feminism topics. I do have to say that the other talks were also inspiring, after each presentation I was filled with motivation and enthusiasm. In between were also musical interludes fitting into the overall program.
In terms of pricing, the tickets range from 30€ for early bird students to 60€ for day-before-purchase without discount. But as the event was all day long, including all you can drink and eat this was well worth the price.
That’s it for this short recap and thank’s for the fish!
